A Study Of The Form Language Of Cash Self-service Deposit Machine Based On Usability

Along with the continuous development of economy, the daily income in many places of business, such as large supermarket, toll station and gas station, has markedly grown. In the wake of this, it is significant for bank and merchants to face the issue about security problem, economic cost and managerial efficiency, which is attributed to the task of great volume cash deposit. As to this, self-service cash deposit machine uses the national standards of ATM(Automated Teller Machine)for production and manufacturing as a benchmark, adding anti-theft monitoring system, security alarm system, financial management system and other technology, which could avoid those problems existing in the traditional cash transfer and night safe. Basing on the developed hardware and software inside the product, this thesis researches the suitable form language of this production with the design philosophy of usability which could match its function and be easy to operate.The research framework of this paper is that:Firstly, usability in this research is viewed as the main information in product design process. With an intensive study of the properties in cash self-service deposit machine, some available messages would be encoded in the form language of products selectively, and then the usability of the design is evaluated through the interaction between users and product. In theoretical study, author looked up the related materials about usability, carried out special investigation and analyzed the materials to comprehend the fundamental principle. This paper also generalizes this kind of products’characteristic and their influential factors, integrates the principles of usability design, and compares the differences between special products and general merchandises in the aspect of usability. On this basis, combining with the elements and factors in product form language, author attempt to find out the relationship between usability and form language in the whole and detail, then to put forward a design flow with respect to usability form. In the other hand, the aspect of practice, author investigates enterprises and audiences, mines feature of cash self-service deposit machine, considers relevant technology requirement, explores the market of similar products, applies the design flow to analyze the form language demanded by users, and designs a product with usability both the overall shape and partial details.With the research on usable form language of cash self-service deposit machine, author integrates a design step and some notice points for similar design cases in the terms of design process. In the aspect of engineering, author tries best to transform the invisible experiences into a series of form data that could make products safe, reliable, easy to use and efficient. In terms of aesthetics, this paper considers the relationship between human, machine and environment, mining the appropriate product form language, in the hope of bringing users coordination in specific environment.
