PV arrays, the core devices of PV power generation system, usually consist of solar cells in series and/or in parallel. To obtain optimized parameters and higher energy efficiency, the simulation models of current-voltage( VI -)and the methods of extracting parameters are important. Among the models of solar cells, the single-diode model including five parameters is the simplest and the most commonly used. However, these models exists large modeling errors for amorphous silicon solar cells. The large modeling errors may be due to the relationship between the series resistance and temperature. This thesis mainly discuss the series resistance. This thesis discuss the relationship between the series resistance and temperature and obtain the expression of them by using Chebyshev polynomials and padé approximants. We establish two six-parameter models based on Chebyshev polynomials and padé approximants, respectively. Then a new parameter called temperature coefficient for series resistance introduced into the single-diode model. We establish two six-parameter models based on Chebyshev polynomials and padé approximants, respectively. Then a new parameter called temperature coefficient for series resistance introduced into the single-diode model. For different kinds of silicon soalr cells, i.e., single-crystalline silicon poly-crystalline silicon, thin film silicon, tripe-junction amorphous silicon, we used Engineering Equation Solver(EES) and Matlab to verify the prediction of I-V characteristic and the estimation of the maximum power point. The simulation results show that two six-parameter models have appropriate computational complexity, high precision and can be widely used. Especially for the six-parameter model based on padé approximants, the expression for series resistance is simpler, and the best model for Solarex MSX-64.
