In the era of knowledge-driven economy when knowledge, information and culture being the core competitiveness, university science park plays an increasingly important role as a new knowledge economy and cultural economy in urban and regional development, and it has gradually involved into an industry development silicon valley of cities and regions. However, faced with the planning and construction of the integrated urban space community of "production, study and research", especially university science park with colleges and universities as its main body, related research in the field of urban planning shows certain hysteresis and urban planners often find it hard to get rid of the traditional solidification mode of campus planning. As a result, the driving force of university science park and the transformation advantages of colleges and universities are not effective. Objectively, it has also led to the planning and construction of university science park in a chaotic situation.Based on this background, this paper regards the functional space of university science park as an active subject represented by urban planners with the vision of complex adaptive system (CAS) theory from systems science. It has introduced from CAS the action mode of adaptability between two subjects and mode between subject and environment, which aims at the particular type of university science park with colleges and universities as its main body, to highlight the importance role of nonlinear characteristics of CAS to the effectiveness improvement of planning. Thereby, it has built the adaptive planning model based on the characteristics and mechanism of three aspects, i.e., the suitability of space object with the other subjects, the suitability of space object with the objective environment, and nonlinear characteristics manifested in the process of adaptive response, and the empirical study has been done relying on the planning and construction of the Scientific and Educational Base of Nanjing Agricultural University in Baima Town, Lishui Nanjing. Overall, the main research contents of this paper include the following several parts. The first part is research background and review of related studies, which can be referred to in Chapter One and Chapter Two. This part emphasizes on research topic, research realistic background, research thoughts, research contents and formation of the research frame. Besides these, this part has defined the study object of this paper, i.e., the adaptive process of college-centred multiple subject during the planning and construction of university scientific and educational park, on the basis of university science park research and the CAS theory. The second part dwells on theoretical research and the building of adaptive planning mode, which are described and analyzed in Chapter Three. On the basis of CAS feature description of university science park, this part has defined the five main bodies of university science park, subdivided the objective environment faced by planning. The adaptive pattern of university science park planning has been formed based on the following three aspects. Firstly, from the aspect of achieving the adaptability among space subject and the other subjects, it is believed that the adaptability performance of space subject and the other subjects is a best combination of demand, and combination of functions carried out by space subjects is an expression of collective rationality of multiple subjects. The exploration and analysis mechanism of subjects’demand, the coordination mechanism of subjects’demand are all based on this viewpoint. Secondly, on the basis that exploration on best combination of functional requirements has been done in the above paragraphs, "adaptability between space subject and the objective environment" is achieved through building GIS functional suitability model under the natural ecological orientation and building adaptability implementing mechanism under cultural memory orientation. Further more, this paper has built the process assessing and monitoring mechanism of university science park in order to respond to the nonlinear characteristics in the process of space subjects’adaptation, and to reduce or avoid the influence of planning effectiveness caused by random events during planning. The third part is empirical study, which is demonstrated in Chapter Four. This part relies on the adaptive planning mode mentioned above. To start with, the development demands of four different levels, i.e., Nanjing Agricultural University, Lishui Government, enterprises, and research institutes, have been explored and analyzed, and "the best combination of functional requirements" has been formed depending on demand coordination mechanism. In the second place, the space adaptability of five functional areas is achieved relying on the GIS adaptability mode of functional land, as well as the adaptability implementing strategies of different culture during space designing. In the end, concrete solving strategies and counter measures has been put forward specific to the nonlinear characteristics revealed in the process of planning and implementation of Educational and Scientific Base of Nanjing Agriculture University in Baima. The conclusion of this study is written in Chapter Five, which is also the last part of this paper. Generally speaking, conclusion of this paper consists of the following four aspects.(1) In view of the shortage of domestic existing campus planning model, the adaptive planning model of certain pratical and application value has been built through the introduction of CAS theory;(2) From the aspect of need, the adaptive mode among space subject and the other subjects in the planning of university scientific and educational park has been put forward.(3) The functional suitability and spatial structure optimization in university scientific and educational park has been explored and discussed by combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches.(4) According to the adaptive planning model built in this paper, the empirical study of Baima Educational and Scientific Park Nanjing Agricultural University has been done, which has effectively guided the drawing up, adjustment and spatial implementation of planning. The whole thesis contains about 48000 words,74pictures and charts.
