The marine gearbox is a connected device as diesel engine and propeller, whose performance directly determines the stability of the ship operation. Moreover, due to the severe extrusion and abrasion, the marine gearbox has more failure rate than other parts of diesel. In order to eliminate the generation of the Marine gearbox failure during operation, the research group determine to monitor and diagnosis for the Marine gearbox in real time.This paper analyze for the information of the Marine gearbox fault type, fault mechanism and fault characteristic in-depth analysis, and design the fault monitoring and diagnosis system. The fault monitoring and diagnosis system is mainly composed of hardware and software. The hardware is assembled by the industrial PC, data acquisition card and processor equipment. The software is mainly composed of fault monitoring, signal processing and data storage. Among them, the software design and development is the focus of this article.The multi-channel data acquisition program is written by the Lab VIEW within fault monitoring system, combining with the hardware equipment constitutes failure monitoring system. Data processing algorithm fuses time domain signals analysis, frequency domain analysis and time-frequency analysis and so common fault signal diagnosis algorithm. Simple algorithm is written by Lab VIEW program diagram. However, Complex algorithm should use C# to write a dynamic link library(DLL), combining with Lab VIEW calls DLL, which reduces the difficulty of the data processing algorithm. Data storage is mainly using spreadsheet file in Lab VIEW, storing the collected program into the disk, for subsequent review and analysis.Because of the limitation of conditions,this paper utilizes the fault simulation test bench to verify the reliability of fault diagnosis system. Firstly, sensors are mounted in the enclosure and bearing block of the gearbox, to ensure the point position. Then, the fault vibration signals are captured and analyzed by the fault diagnosis system. Finally, the reliability of the fault monitoring and diagnosis system is verified by the gearbox fault characteristic information.Based on the design and research of key technologies of the fault monitoring and diagnosis system, not only can improve the level of our country shipping diagnosis technology, but ensure the vessels’ stability in the running. This paper has great significance.
