With the development of the automobile industry,automobile emissions has becomeone of the main source of pollution of our environment. Automobile exhaust-gaspurification is an important research direction of the engine. To measure the compositionand the content of the emissions correctly is an important prerequisite to study thepurification strategy and the control techniques. In recent years, with the rapid developmentof diesel technology, diesel engined car become more and more popular, and the productionof the diesel vehicle increases rapidly.The particular matter of diesel engine is an important component of PM2.5, andexhaust in the form of smoke. Since2005, our national standard has put forward a clearlimitation to the emission standard for the diesel engine smoke. The CNS provide a methodof using smoke opacity for the diesel engines that produced after2001,and the devices usedfor smoke measurement is opacimeter.The principle of opacimeter is smoke opacity law, the smoke will absorb the light. Theopacimeter can achieve real-time measurement of diesel engine smoke, including blacksmoke, blue smoke and white smoke. The paper is focused on the optimization of thesnokemeter on the ground of SV-6YC opacimeter. SV-6YC opacimeter is the product ofTianjin Shengwei Development of Science CO.,Ltd. It is a kind of fluid-separatingopacimeter that is designed for diesel engine smoke detection. Due to the lack of exhaustcollection system on the SV-6YC opacimeter, it will pollute the surrounding environment ifused for engine bench test. To address this problem, a pumping system is designed based onthe SV-6YC opacimeter in the paper, which combined with the engine test site. Themodified system can accomplish the collection of fluid-separating exhaust after the tests,forming a more perfect smoke detection system for the engine bench test. After themodification of the opacimeter, a series of tests were conducted to check its properties inthe engine bench. In the free acceleration test, a contrast test was done between AVL439opacimeter and the modified opacimeter in the paper, The results verify the reliability of themodified opacimeter. Then the problems that occur in the modified system were summaried.At last, the paper proposes some plans for the further optimization.
