In recent decades, with the development of technology, the metallurgy, electricityand petrochemical industrial equipment which imported and domestic manufacturedexpand increasingly toward to large and heavy. The bearing capacity of the bridge isusually less than the load of overweight cargo transportation, so in order to maintainpublic safety and prevent damage of the bridge. We must be evaluate the bearing capacityof the bridge before the overweight vehicles cross it.The most direct and effective method for evaluation of the bearing capacity of thebridges is loading test, however this method need to interrupt the traffic for a longtime, and slow and laborious, costly takes a lot of manpower and material resources. In regard of the problems above,as viewed from practicality, this dissertation putforward the carrying capacity evaluation method based on the detection result ofoverweight vehicles cross the bridge. This method is based on the material test result ofthe appearance of the bridge structure, the structure determination of modal parametersinherent, load analysis and investigation of the case, etc.,then introducing checkcalculation coefficient Z1,reduction factor, deterioration factor, and through computationof analysis to compare the load effects and the resistance effects in structural resistanceexpression, then make carrying capacity evaluation of the bridge. As the particularity ofoverweight vehicles cross the bridge, the vehicle speed3km/h and does not shift or brakeand driving along the centerline of the bridge,so calculating the load effects do notconsidered reduction factor correction of the live load. This article firstly make a theoretical explanations of the assessment method, thenapplied to the actual bridge assessment work, to prove the correctness of this method.
