With the opening up of China’s energy market and rapid growth of car consumption, fuel supplies become closer to the lives of consumers. Gas stations play an increasingly important role in daily life..In a sense, the quality of the gas station construction is possibly to determine on the urban overall image and even comprehensive strength. The design, siting and layout play a decisive role in the the station’s development. Building a gas station with highly efficient operating capacity and in line with national standards may have the deep influence in furture. Therefore, study on gas stations is essential. The domestic gas stations planning have never been payed enough attention to. Wide view of the overall effect, most studies are demand-oriented planning of the passive type, but the total amount of excess pressure and the potential deep-seated contradictions are still a blank stage. Although some large and medium cities in China implemented a gas station network layout of the measures in recent years, but the theory of the station layout plan is very lacking, which accord to the lack of effective guidance and development of gas station planning.Based on extensive and careful investigations, as well as through analysing the past, the present and the future of the strategy of China’gas station planning, a complete of strategic thoughts, strategic destinations, over-all layout, route of development and major measures is put forward. Case studies, and outlines the experiences gained in a decade practice of urban gas station planning and management in Qingdao, Shandong Province. The paper proposes technical requirements for urban gas stations in location-selection, site planning and design, and on-site plane-layout, so as to establish a service network of gas stations that is reasonably planned, fairly competitive, well-functioned, and compatible with urban growth.
