Energy conservation and green shipping has become an important direction ofinland waterways development in our country. A lot of exhaust from conventionalfuel, such as diesel, and fuel leakage caused serious pollution for inland waters.Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has merits of rich resources in our country, emissionclean and high energy efficiency, which can effectively reduce the pollutants emissionand inland waterway transport cost. Therefore, as an economic and clean energy,LNG is recognized as the preferred ship sailing energy. With the development ofLNG-powered ship, LNG security has attracted widespread attention. LNG’s physicaland chemical properties determine that it is an important risk source. It’s urgent andnecessary to strengthen the analysis of LNG-powered ships leak hazard. This article gets a clear understanding of LNG’s diffusion characteristics andhazards by analyzing the basic nature and diffusion process of LNG. Apply SaferTrace to emulate the dispersal behavior of fuel leakage of LNG-powered ships.Determine the value of every input parameter, including the size of LNG tank, LNGcomponents, weather information, etc. obtain three-dimensional simulation data ofgas concentrations, leakage and downwind distance in1~6levels of wind speed andA~F levels of atmospheric stability.Fitting analyze the three-dimensional simulation data of LNG leakage diffusionin different wind speed and atmospheric stability conditions, obtain the relationshipbetween LNG leakage and gas concentrations, diffusion distance. So that the amountof LNG leakage can be calculated according to the gas concentration value measuredby the gas concentration sensor and the distance between the sensor and the leaksource, further, the TNT equivalent of vapor cloud explosion and the casualty radiuscaused by LNG leak can be calculated.By the study on quantitative evaluation model of the hazard of fuel leak ofLNG-powered ships, LNG leakage injury extent can be analyzed, which has a certainsignificance for LNG leakage accident prevention and emergency rescue.
