Wetlands are acting a very important role in our natural and land resources. They are notonly the most important place among all living conditions of human beings, but also one of theecological landscape which contains most biological species and biodiversity. Wetlands bringsso much attention because it is so close to our survival environment and human reproduction.The landscape design of urban park is focus on water body and to protect biodiversitybecomes the primary purpose of wetland. First of all, it requires wetland to keep its ecologicalfunctions and the typical characteristics, such as surface water can self-purification, or typicalsoils, vegetation, water birds and so on. Secondly, it emphasizes the main purpose to constructwetland park is to protect our ecological environment, people will fully aware of the importantmeaning of wetland along with science education as. Third, wetland landscape should base onfeatures of natural wetland in order to avoid artificial landscape, but also has its owngeographical characteristics. Fourth, it is pointed out that the wetland park provides urbanresidents a natural and casual space to live with.The case of this article selected a wetland in the city of Zhangye. It is located in the middleof Hexi Corridor in Gansu Province. Because of its special position, the wetland landscape inZhangye has rich natural and cultural resources, such as rich geographical features, long historyand unique cultural scenery. This article analyze the wetland landscape in Zhangye frommultiple perspectives, such as humanities, ecology, functional analysis and aesthetic. Theconclusion comes with the in-depth analysis of natural and culture conditions in Zhangyewetland, but also comparing the wetland in the city of Hangzhou. It proposed a significantmeaning of protection and development. In the western arid region, it has its unique wetlandlandscape. Therefore, use its unique ecological environment to design a wetland landscape inorder to meet its local characteristics. In addition, the construction of the wetland park inZhangye should pay attention to avoid building similar as traditional water park.
