In recent years, with the rapid economic development, more and more substationswere built at the heart of the city center or vice. The running equipment of substationgenerates noise. We know, noise affect in various activities. Noise has become a hazard forhuman health. So, searching the root of the noise generated by the transformer and knowinghow to control is a very important issue.Firstly, this paper studies the mechanism of transformer noise. Through themulti-physics coupling simulation on core and windings of the transformer, we find that, transformer noise is mainly derived or caused by the magnetostrictive. While, in the case ofover-load or full-load, noise caused by windings vibration could not be ignored.Simultaneously, this paper discusses relationship between transformer noise and themagnetostrictive of silicon steel with its load capacity. Also, through the data of site noise, finding that the frequency spectrum of noise is mainly showing the low-frequency noisecharacteristics, and are mainly concentrated at integer multiples from100Hz to500Hz.Based on this low frequency characteristics, the paper put forward specific measures tocurb the transformer noise. In addition, this paper studies the basic principles and structure of the active noisecontrol system, launches the corresponding simulation studies, contrasts the advantages anddisadvantages of summarized feed-forward with feedback system. Also, this paper analyzesthe two control algorithms LMS and Fx-LMS system.Ultimately, combined with the basic principles of the low frequency characteristics ofthe transformer noise and active control systems, this paper designs a control system basedon the principle of sound field cancellation. The control system includes the microphonemodule, the filter module preamp, AD/DA converter module, system control algorithmmodule, an audio power amplifier module, the secondary sound source modules. Bycontrolling one or more secondary sound sources, the system can generate the primary phase noise canceling sound waves. Field application results show that the active noisecontrol technology has some effect on eliminating low-frequency noise.
