Safe and economic industrial production and effective utilization of resource havebecome our consciousness, with the rapid development of social economy and the moreobvious shortage of resource. Pressure vessel is widely used in industry because of specialadvantages. Meanwhile, it’s very difficult to estimate the loss once the security accidenthappen, due to the particularity of the vessel content and working conditions. Therefore,safe and reliable performance of pressure vessels take attentions of aspects. Scientificstructure design, reasonable materials use, manufacturing and testing process, safetyanalysis theory, standard specifications and effective means of research in pressure vesselare always the most active area of academia and industry.“Gas instead of oil” as powerful fuel era arrives with the practice of sustainabledevelopment and environmental-friendly concept. The use of liquefied natural gas(LNG)becomes a hot topic, holding the use of LNG vessel jump. Vessels will continue increasein the area of industry with different scales, different materials or different functions. Interms of its own characteristics and widely used, scientific and reasonable design andreliable safety analysis is urgent.The purpose is to improve the material utilization and the safety of pressure vessel inthis article, using the analysis and design method for safety assessment of the steelstructure pressure vessel with low temperature. Subject of this paper is established underthese background.Numerical analysis of the determined research object by means of the large finiteelement software, ANSYS, is strictly follow basic mechanical theory and the relevantnational and industry current standards.Effective finite element model is established, and numerical analysis including staticstrength analysis under mechanical and temperature load, equivalent static analysis ofmotion inertia force, modal analysis, and seismic spectrum analysis. And reasonableimprovement opinions are put forward according to the previous analysis results.The material property parameters in analysis strictly follow the relevant national and industry standard. Stress of the analysis results will to be classified, and then evaluate thestress results of vessel with reasonable stress evaluation criterion. According to the stressevaluation criterion, the safety factor of original structure scheme is relatively small, eventhough it satisfies the requirement of safety design.Due to different stress in stress classification performs different damage mechanismand damage degree for pressure vessel. And then combining with the mechanics theoryand previous analysis results, reasonable suggestion for structure improvement is putforward. The improved scheme can effectively improve the mechanical properties of thepressure vessel.
