Valve-train mechanism is an important component part of the engine, the performance ofthe whole engine running status is directly related to the work of it.While the main functionof valve-train is to make the airflow meets the requirements. But its impact on the wholemachine is not only limited to this, the dynamic performance of valve-train and componentsreliability is also to be badly in need of attention. In the design course, the dynamicperformance of valve-train and parts of valve-train structral strength should be in accordancewith relevant targets.TYCON and ADAMS were both used to analyze the dynamics of valve-train. TYCON ismainly used for the design of cam contour line and a preliminary analysis of kinematics anddynamics of valve-train. ADAMS is mainly used for the dynamic analysis and validation. The valve body parts were designed by the three-dimensional CAD software PRO/E andassembled into a complete mechanism model, then a preliminary definition was done by theprogram MECHANISM/PRO, the multi-body system dynamic model was perfected inADAMS/AVIEW. Considering the impact of components deformation, the rigid-flexiblecoupled valve-train model was introduced. The result was that the kinetic index parameterswere obtained, such as the valve displacement, velocity, acceleration, the impact forcebetween the valve bridge and the valve, the impact force between the valve seat and thevalve, the spring force, etc. The calculation results show that the above-mentioned indexesmeet within the corresponding requirements. The purpose ws to verify the preliminary designof the valve-train.In this paper, calculation for the design of cam contour line and the structural strengthchecking was conducted based on relevant function cam formulas and allowable stressprinciples, which helped us to further understand the essence and core of valve-train design.Meanwhile,Valve-train test bench was built, some kinetic parameters were tested andcompared to the original design value, so the practical valve-train running state could becomprehensively understood.
