Nowadays, the Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) have received increasingattention both in research and industry communities especially in Intelligent TransportSystems (ITS). In order to make road safer and vehicles more intelligent, the vehicularcollects information to manage traffic as well as reduce congestion. The wireless nodeswill play a important role in communication and collecting data. They are integrated inevery vehicle and base station (called Road Side Units). We can see that the wireless nodein vehicle can be recharged by their battery, but the wireless node in base station cannot berechargeable for along term. The problem to address is how to extend the lifetime ofwireless node. Other problem in VANETs is Server overloading issue when a largenumber of vehicle is working at the same time.In this thesis we are using Name Data Network (NDN) and cooperative techniques tosolve the above problem. Using Name Data Network can easily fetch from cache ofintermediate network devices. From there we can reduce energy consumption in vehiclenetworks by reducing total bits sent from sever. This contributes to reduction in round triptime (RTT) of packets and Server’s cache. Moreover it also helps to avoid congestioninformation when a large number of vehicles in network. On the other hand, thecomparison among some cooperative techniques such as Multi-hop transmission, Relaytechnique and MIMO can be used to choose the optimal cooperative strategy in term ofconsumption for energy constrained road infrastructure networks. The result in OPNETshows that energy efficiency is increasing with the number of vehicle. And the result inMATLAB shows that the comparison among the cooperative techniques can be used tochoose the optimal cooperative strategy in vehicle networks.
