Along with the continuous growth of its domestic comprehensive strength,Chinahas developed gradually into one of the biggest bases of industrial manufacture in theworld. The introduction of various world-renowned magnate companies into Chinahas brought to it not only a vast quantity of opportunities,but also a great number ofchallenges. In recent years, in pace with the world-wide economic revival,there hasappeared a tendency of universal growth in the world’s main heavy industrymarkets,including those in the developing countries. This situation brought aboutunprecedented opportunities of development for the heavy industry in China. In orderto raise the working efficiency and precision of detection, and to guarantee the qualityof products,the technique of automatic detection has become the trend of the times.As a major component part in the heavy industry equipment the shaft-like spare part isespecially important. Compared with the advanced world level of automatization ofdetection equipment used for shaft-like parts in heavy industry, our work still has along way to go to come up to the expected standards. What is generally used in Chinais mostly manually-operated detection equipment or detection tools, which are liableto reduce the detection precision or its efficiency. Therefore it has become an urgentneed to study and design a kind of automatic detection equipment applicable forespecially long shafts with incessantly changing diameters.On the basis of a comprehensive study of the basic technology of the3D couplingrobot, this thesis designed a3D coupling device of supersonic detection system forshaft-like parts. Basically this device consisted of two parts: the mechanical and thecontrol parts. For the mechanical part a new auto-turnover sensor-holder was designed,which can turn over a certain angle according to the geometrical size of the shaft,so asto assure that all the needed points on the shaft be detected. Besides, there was alsodesigned an X.Y.Z. three axis coupling system. For the control part,in line with whatwas required by this project, such as the3axis coupling motion,the auto-turn over ofthe sensor holder, the speed of the detected shaft driving and the rotating directioncontrol,a coupling supersonic device control system was designed. This controlsystem used a process control microprocessor as its kernel,and performedthe functions stated above by sampling the information collected by the multiplesensors.This shaft supersonic detection coupling system has a touch screen to realize itsman machine interface; the screen consisted of two modules, one was for manualcontrol,used during equipment adjustment and the other was for automaticcontrol,used for ordinary detection process. Now this device is adopted in Beijingwhere its practicality and reliability have been verified.
