This Thesis studies a new type of composite coupling beam with control device which is composed of steel member. The global objective is the assessment of the seismic response of the innovative coupling beam, which could be accomplished by conducting dynamic finite element analysis on the spatial modal. This paper has mainly investigated dynamic performance about decreasing seismic effecting of innovative composite coupling beams, which contains control member with friction dissipater.The analysis on the composite coupling beam with control device was firstly carried out from the conceptual aspect and the establishment of the analysis model. With the use of the software of computer simulation analysis -ANSYS, the natural modes of the systems were worked out, and the effect of the coupling beam on free vibration of the structural system was examined. The effect of the composite coupling beam to the structural system dynamic response was analyzed from three aspects: (1) stochastic seismic response by means of frequency-domain analysis method; (2) elastic dynamic analysis by time-history method; (3) elastic and plastic dynamic analysis by time-history method in which the material nonlinearity of reinforced concrete and steel was considered.The analysis results show that the composite coupling beam can effectively decrease the seismic responses of structural system without change of the natural frequency of the structural system and make the structural system an ideal model of dissipation of energy. The experimental results show that the structural rigidity can be weakened if high buildings with coupling beams adopt the coupling beams made of shaped steel instead the traditional reinforced concrete coupling beams, and that the structural rigidity can be little changed if the composite coupling beams with control devices are installed on the middle floors of the structural system, from the aspect of frequency-domain analysis the results show that the high buildings with coupling beams have good seismic performance if the composite coupling beams with control devices are installed on the middle floors of the structural system, from the elastic and plastic dynamic analysis by the time-domain analysis method the results show that the high buildings with coupling beams of the large aspect ratio is unsuitability, because it has bad seismic performance.In the end the thesis gives some advices on the design of the composite coupling beam with control devices, and points out the direction of the further study on this problem.
