In recent years, with the gradual improvement of the automobile industrytechnology and the vigorous development of parts and components manufacturing,universal transmission device has become one of the indispensable importantcomponents in the vehicle design production.The most important part of the universaltransmission device is the universal joint, including Rzeppa and Tripode constantspeed U-joint, which has gained a worldwide popularity at present stageextensively.However, the theoretical knowledge and application of the constant speeduniversal joint research in China started relatively late, there is still a hard way tocatch up with foreign advanced technology enterprises.In this paper, first of all, guided by the relevant professional literature basis,regarding a Front-engine Front-drive car made in domestic factory as the prototype,according to the main parameters of the vehicle and using the principle ofPalmgren/Miner, the RF95and GI69U-joint is chosen to assemble on each side of thehalf-shaft, the service life of which is calculated. According to its correspondingstructure dimension, the parametric models of the two kinds of U-joint are designed;Secondly, based on the three-dimensional modeling software CATIA V5R19designplatform, driven completed based on parameterized size constraint, two kinds of U-joint components solid models are built, assembled and interference checked.Through the appropriate secondary development by VB6.0of the parametric designmodeling of two kinds of universal joint, the useful executable file is generated;Thirdly, use the finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench for creatingreasonable finite element model of two kinds of U-joint, and respectively from theideal and the real condition of two different load modes, the statics analysis wascarried out.Then, comparing the simulation value with the calculated result based onHertz contact theory comparative analysis, it is concluded that stress concentration ofthe two kinds of U-joint was occurred on the edge of the contact between components,for RF95U-joint, the maximum contact stress occurred in the contact region betweeninner raceway of the star set with the ball; for GI69U-joint, the maximum contactstress occurred he contact region between the three pivot with the needles, which is consistent with the theory; Finally, on the basis of statics analysis, carrying on thefatigue analysis respectively for the two kinds of universal joint, it is concluded thatthe components nephogram distribution of fatigue life and the safe coefficient underconstant amplitude symmetrical cyclic load, for RF95U-joint, the component of thesmallest fatigue life is star set, for GI69U-joint, which is the three pivot.In comparison with the theoretical result, the proportional tolerance is not big.Toa certain extent, it is concluded that the created finite element model is correct, theanalysis method is reasonable, and the simulation result is reliable. This articleprovides a beneficial basis on the structure size and anti-fatigue design of the twokinds of universal joint.
