Floating pontoon is the most widely used way for ship berthing in inland port.With the rapid development of inland waterway transport, the quantity and tonnage ofberthing ships are increasing, which put forward the higher requirement for pontoonmooring way. Especially for inland river reservoir area with great water levelfluctuation up to nearly10meters in different seasons, a kind of pontoon mooringscheme adapting to the characteristics of great water level fluctuation of reservoir isin desire need. Taking Shatuo wharf of Wujiang reservoir area as example andcombining with the local hydrologic data and actual conditions, a kind of reliable,stable, convenient and flexible pontoon mooring scheme adapting to great water levelfluctuation is put forward on the basis of mechanics analysis and calculation.First of all, it’s introduced that the basic situation, mooring principles andmechanical characteristics of the three existing common kinds of pontoon mooringways (including anchor chain systems, stay bar system and positioning pier system),and their respective advantages and disadvantages are expounded. It can be obtainedby comparison that due to its own characteristics, there exists some limitations so thatthey all cannot be chosen as ideal solution for three kinds of mooring ways;Secondly, in combination with the practical situation of Shatuo wharf, a kind ofmixed pontoon mooring scheme of anchor chain and cable is put forward in this paper,in which anchor chain is used to balance the external load, and the cable is mainlyused to adapt to the variation of water level. On the basis of the determined externalload, force analysis mathematic model is built, and the catenary theory is applied forstatic analysis and calculation of mooring system, then select suitable anchor andanchor chain. In addition, the cable’s force analysis is conducted in the mostunfavorable working condition;Then, according to the characteristics of great water level fluctuation for thereservoir area, the released length of anchor chain under different water levels arecalculated in order to guide the practical operation, and the arrangement distance ofmooring along the slope is determined;Finally, on the basis of determining the main factors influencing pontoon mooring way, fuzzy theory is applied to set up the secondary fuzzy comprehensiveevaluation system, respectively evaluating the existing mooring way and the mixedmooring way, and the final evaluation result of the mixed mooring way is "good".
