Recently, infrared technology has been more widely used not only in the military field,but also in the civilian aspects. But since the infrared equipments are expensive and theexperiments are limitted by some factors, the detection and diagnosis become very difficultin practical. Therefore, by taking advantage of computer technology, the thermal infraredimaging was simulated and a system for the detection and diagnosis was constructed in theproject.Although the infrared thermal imaging technology has been developped in recent years,the application of the power transformer testing has not been realized by this technology yet.Because of high weight and probability of the transformers in the power industry, theinfrared thermal detection technology is applied as a modern measurement. Based on thetransformer simulation model with the Vega software, the infrared thermal images weresimulated in several cases, and then the testing and diagnostic software was developed andemployed in the analysis.1) Using the theory of infrared physics and infrared radiation, the infrared radiationmodels of the power transformer object with the sky and earth background was constructed,and the effect of atmospheric attenuation and the sensor noise was analyzed.2) Using Multigen Vega software the object of the power transformer can besimulated with the sky and the terrain background together. Through the control panel ofvisual platform, the operating environment, spectral band, noise effects and special effectscan be set.3) Using the detection and diagnostic software for the infrared image developed bymyself, I proposed an improved fuzzy reasoning method by comparing the fuzzytemperature threshold to the fuzzy relative temperature difference. It is tested that themethod can improve the speed and the accuracy in the system. I then added the fuzzydetection algorithm in the system. The detection and diagnosis software of the infraredsimulated image owned a strong interaction and object-oriented capabilities, and wassimple, flexible to control, rich in functions.
