As one of the main form of Chinese traditional architecture, wood structure need tobe repair and reinforced because of some reasons. Scholars had done a lot of researchesabout the reinforcement method of wood beams, such as FRP reinforce wood beams, steel plate reinforce wood beams and bamboo reinforce wood beams, but the researcheswere only useful for the intact beams. However, in the practical engineering, woodbeams have all kinds of different degree damage, the data about reinforcement ofdamaged wood beams is limited. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out experimentstudy on crack damaged wooden beams. In this paper, tests were studied to analyze the bending resistance of4boltconnection strengthening crack damaged wood beams and3steel plate compositestrengthening crack damaged wood beams, which includes failure mode, bearingcapacity, stiffness, ductility and strain distribution. The results showed that, the flexuralbehavior of bolt connection strengthening crack damaged wood beams cannot improve, but the resistance slip capacity, bearing capacity, stiffness and ductility of steel platestrengthening crack damaged wood beams improve a lot,and the plane cross-sectionassumption are well met, steel plate composite strengthening wooden beams have threeworking stages: elastic stage, elastic-plastic stage and failure stage. Finally, the author deduced the formula about the bearing capacity accordingdifferent working stages and failure mode of steel plate composite strengthening crackdamaged wood beams, we can see that the proposed method is available by comparingexperimental results and calculated results. At the same time, the elastic stage deflectionwere also proposed.
