Automatic Voltage Control system analyses and calculates the status of reactivepower and voltage from centralized monitoring. It maintains the network voltage’sstability and quality, and increases entire the economic operation level. All of thiscome from the perspective of wide-area distributed reactive power coordinatedcontrol.According to the status of Tianjin power grid, this paper proposes a method ofhierarchical control system on voltage and reactive power optimization. This systemcan monitor the reactive power changes of every sub-region, and easily coordinateall levels of hierarchical partition control. Its main function is to ensure the networksecurity and stability. The AVC can make sure the power factor qualified, andvoltage fluctuations within the reasonable range of curve. It also can minimize systempower loss, which is caused by unnecessary reactive power flow.
