Power system reactive power optimization, and compensation is an important part of the power system safe and economic operation. Through the rational allocation of reactive power with power and reactive load compensation, not only to maintain voltage levels and improve the stability of power system operation, and can reduce network losses, so that the power system is safe and economical operation.Although the majority of domestic scheduling carried on each node voltage control, or have been using the traditional management mode voltage control, power plant side, the generator reactive power, high-voltage bus voltage primarily by power plant staff on duty in accordance with the requirements of the system operator Artificial regulation. This adjustment only way to ensure that the voltage passing part-time, some nodes, but with the economic operation of power systems, the goal is far from reliable power supply. Expanding the grid, running has improved continuously, to promote automated dispatch management, management methods that rely on human intervention has not meet the requirements and development of the grid. Substation side, despite the installation of a reactive power switching equipment, reactive power compensation device, but is still far from achieving these reactive power conditioning equipment from a global perspective grid automatically.This article focuses on the application of structural power plant AVC automatic control devices,communications platforms and communication protocols, specifically addressed the automatic voltage control (AVC) plant installation configuration, pressure principle, software setup, test conditions and actual effect. Power AVC system via communication links Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) and scheduling side, accepting the scheduling order, automatic voltage regulation function. It not only with the optimization of reactive power control, reactive power optimization, but also to achieve independent control of power plants, improving the bus voltage level.
