Based on the author’s experience of the varistor product, combined with theapplication prospect of varistor, we choose the varistors for Surge CurrentSuppression as the research object. Through the actual use on industrial applications,as well as customers’ related requirements, we work out the standards of the chip zincoxide varistor for Surge Current Suppression. Study is spread around the ceramicmaterial recipe and process technology to find the factors on the product performanceabout Maximum Peak Current, and lifetime of HALT.After consult the relevant research literature in the Varistor field, we choose amaterial basic prescription which is for the arrester varistor. With the introduction ofa number of different oxidation additives materials, such as B, Ti, Mg, Ni, Ag, andrare earth oxides, we reasoning and study from the experimental data on the materialproperties and made into a comprehensive performance of the product.The thesis is focused on material formulation and process technology forimproving the Peak Current and lifetime. The mainly study is about how to improveproduct performance through various processes and how to improve the stability ofthe grain boundary, uniformity, density, etc. Then work out some new methods aboutingredients, dispersion, sintering or heat treatment to improve properties.In this study, we use some standardized methods for all experimentation whichcan ensured the accuracy of the experiment. The experimental data Represent thematerial or process design effect.
