Lightning is the natural discharge phenomena, it not only has enormous energy, but also the mankind has suffered huge losses from the lightning disasters, especially the lightning accident occurred accompanied with a lightning storm, at the same time,the thunder is a huge threat for human’ s normal life.In order to prevent the large strong current generated by lighting damaging the modern buildings, electronic equipment and so on, humans invented the lightning rod, which plays a good role to avoid the lightning disaster, but it is also lack of effective preventive measures for the affect of lightning surge current, In this paper, a method is proposed for measuring the surge current.The method is on the basis of measurement accurate, analyzing the various problems of the measurement circuit faced before lightning and the magnetic field while the lightning current occuring, increasing its application scope.The paper analyzed the lightning surge current’s characteristic of strong and short time impact, proposed a measurement method based on Hall principle, researched the problem of measuring current size, peak detection, magnetic field distribution analysis and so on.The experimental results show:this method can effectively measure the lightning surge current, which has a high safety performance, accuracy and a wide applicationrange.
