The international emission standard of vehicle and the demand of the cars’ safetyand dynamic performance is becoming stricter nowadays, making the control of thevehicle system more accurate. The transmittability of traditional CAN network canhardly meet the demand. In order to build an accurate model and to improve thedeveloping、controlling and calibration process of diesel engine, in-cylinder pressure ofthe engine needs to be collected on runtime.17280byte of in-cylinder pressure dataneeds to be transmitted to PC in24ms at the speed of5000r/min, the average bandwidthneeds to be at least5.76Mbps, far more than the largest bandwidth of CAN network.Besides, thousands of parameters need to be measured in a calibration system as newtechnology imported to the control system of the engine. But calibration system basedon CCP protocol can only measure25610ms-event byte of parameter at most becauseof the limitation of CAN network, which cannot meet the requirement of the advancedcalibration system. The conclusion is that a new on-vehicle network with high speedand large bandwidth needs to be developed and put into use.A high-performance Time-Triggered communication network FlexRay has beendeveloped by the FlexRay Consortium, a group of companies include automotive OEMs,an automotive system supplier and semiconductor manufacturers. The network cantransmit data in both channel A and channel B, ensuring the safety of the data. The10Mbps bandwidth of the network can meet the requirement of the collection ofin-cylinder pressure data, and can also adapt to the trend that the number of parameterof engine is increasing quickly. The author of the thesis developed an in-cylinder pressure data collecting systemand a calibration system based on XCP-on-FlexRay for diesel engine using FlexRaynetwork on the base of in-Cylinder analysis platform. The in-cylinder pressure datacollecting system can collect in-cylinder pressure data on runtime, transmit it to mastersystem through FlexRay network, and analyze it using MATLAB. Peak bandwidth canbe as high as11.52Mbps, which can meet the requirement of in-cylinder pressure datacollecting of a4-cylinder diesel engine at the speed of5000r/min. The packet layer ofthe calibration system defines the method of implementing the XCP protocol using FlexRay network. The calibration system based on a slave system with its driver manualwritten as well as a CANape software as master system can implement functions suchas measurement and calibration, and can measure as many as8636on-byte-10msvariables, which is33times of the measurement ability of CCP protocol. Besides,FlexRay network has been used in automotive industry in China: KPV13platform hasused FlexRay network as transmission channel for data; ECTEK AutomotiveElectronics limited is trying to industrialize the calibration system develop in the thiesis.Time-Triggered network FlexRay network can well adapt the trend of on-vehiclenetwork with its characteristics such as high-bandwidth, fault tolerance and safety.FlexRay network can show its high performance specially when used in a system inwhich data needs to be transmitted at a high speed.
