Analysis On The Space Structure Of City Squares In Marais Protected Area Of Paris

With the rapid development of modern cities, the problem of lacking publicdomain is getting more and more serious in Chinese cities, especially in the historicdistrict. The contradiction between urban conservation and modern urban developmentof public domain is increasingly prominent.As Europe’s most historic cities, Paris has a high representation. The historicpreservation district “le Marais” has achived high success in promoting urban public lifeand protection of urban fabric. On the one hand, protected areas has a complete systemof urban public domain, and has unique square space; on the other hand, throughdetailed planning of protected areas, urban space can be well preserved. Taking theSquares in the disctrict of “le Marais”as study objects, based on the development andthe protection of the special structure. The paper focus on the relationship of the spacialstructure between the square and urban fabric and the spacial structure of the squareinside itself. After that, the paper try to find how the special structure effect public lifein this district of “le Marais”, thus to provide reference for the construction of ChinesecitiesThe research based on the in-depth study of the relevant literature about thedevelopment and the protection of the special structure.of the district of “le Marais”.Taking advantage of exchange study in Paris between Sept.2012and Feb.2013, thepaper begin with field research.of the square and urben space. Then, reference theresearch method of building typology and morphology of urban space to sort out andanalyze the acquired data. Though that, the paper figure out the relationship of thespacial structure between the square and urban fabric which include the relationshipwith public realm-say streets-and private realm-say block, besides, the spacial structureof the square itself. In that case, I can built a whole set of special structure system of thesquares in le Marais of Paris.
