With the technical improvement of modern diesel engine, people have drawn aconstant requirement on diesel engine’s durability and service life. Following theconstant depth of computer simulation technology on design and developmentprocess, the method of a large scale durability test could be replaced by computersimulation technology to some extent. We can get a more accurate analysis andresearch on diesel engine’s performance in its life’s different stages. In order to builda new method of cooperation between computer simulation and test, establish awhole modeling of one small diesel engine and simulate its life cycle’ situation by300hours durability test. Studying diesel engine’s performance changes by theconnection of these two ways.This paper at first introduces the software GT-Power and its simulationcalculation process. Then, make a detail introduction on inside cylinder’s workingprocess, focused on the explanation and analysis on combustion model, heat transfermodel and pipe flow model of inside cylinder. Use GT-Power to build thesimulation model, including simulation process and parameter setting on all thesystem and parts. Make a validation of model accord to engine’s standard test data.Based on introduction of durability test, the testing method on50hours breaking-inperiod and250hours normal working period was fully described. Use data statisticsand trend chart to analyze test data and find rule of performance in its differentstages of durability test. Try to figure out the incidence which comes from variablefactors in different stages of durability test by using DOE module in softwareGT-Power, mainly conduct the simulation experiment design and analysis abouteffect on power performance and economical efficiency that existed in the testprocess. Simulate the effect from coolant temperature, intake temperature, leakageamount and friction coefficient in a certain range under the rated condition. In theend, figure out the effects of different variable factors combinations on dieselengine’s power performance and economical efficiency.The connection of simulation analysis and test will play an important role in thefuture study on diesel engine’s durability and service life. In research anddevelopment section,acquire exact information of durability with less cost and predict service life in some degree.
