LPG is very dangerous medium with characteristic of unstable、easy to be gasified、low flashing point、low viscosity among all the chemical medium. In this paper, the failure of the mechanical seal used in the LPG pump is analyzed, and the structure of seal is improved. The improved structure of mechanical seal is made up of dynamic pressure groove. The heating temperature between the seal rings can be reduced through this structure. The working life of LPG pump can be increased and reduced the repair rate.Paper carries out theorety to calculate heating of the face, and gets the impact of face-heating of the main factors by calculating. According to the results of theoretical calculations to modify the parameters of the end face. Compares strengths and weaknesses on single-stage with two-stage mechanical seal. Proposed the point of view that the using of two-stage mechanical pump seals in LPG, which proved that by experimental data. The results showed that modify the data of the end face theoretical in the industry is right. Two-stage mechanical sealing is better than single-stage in the experimental data.The technical and working life requirement of LPG pump applied on the engineer are proposed after the study and analysis of lots of accident caused by the mechanical seal leakage. In the process of the specific engineer design, the mechanical seal structure is optimized in the engineer practice through the study of theoretical calculation and experiment data. The structure of mechanical seal applied on the LPG pump is reconstructed successfully. The technical application and economical benefit are obtained.
