Pressure vessel is very important industrial equipment which plays an important role in the national economy and people’s daily life. Because of the high pressure, easy to explode, and all of other bad conditions, the easy coming explosion will cause a major ecological disaster. Governments are very concerned about whether the pressure vessels under safe operation. Different testing and assessment criteria are already developed and a variety of new non-destructive testing technology has been continuously used in pressure vessel testing and assessment.Metal magnetic memory testing technology emerges in the recent years as a new nondestructive testing technology, because of the small defects and stress concentration sensitivity, it has aroused wide interest. This paper attempts to test pressure vessel with magnetic memory NDT technology. With some typical load tests on the pressure vessel steel, prove the effectiveness and feasibility assessment of magnetic memory testing on pressure vessels. According to the actual needs of the magnetic memory NDT technology application in pressure vessels, database preparation and management system technology of magnetic memory NDT technology are mainly discussed, in order to meet the practical application and promotion of the technology.This paper takes an overview of the development of the magnetic memory NDT technology in recent years, and analyzed the development prospect of this technology and feasibility of it in pressure vessel testing.This paper firstly designed the overall scheme and framework of the database management system. A database management system was established based on analysis of the data which is needed in assessment. This paper discussed the principle of magnetic memory testing, and designed a memory testing hardware system. And a magnetic memory signal acquisition and analysis system was established based on Visual C++. This paper has done some research on evaluation process and method of single defect in a pressure vessel, and use Visual C++to design every module including stress analysis, defect characterization, defect calculation. Every module has a friendly human-computer interaction interface. A vessel assessment evaluation wizard was designed for the staff lack of experience, to guide staff accomplish the evaluation work. Through the research,we hope a further promotion of the metal magnetic memory testing in the field of pressure vessel, and that the personnel lack of understanding of the magnetic memory techniques can use the system to detect the pressure vessel software evaluation easily.Through the above research, a database management system was established, and this system was verified through some examples. Expected target is achieved.
