Abstract:Cutting energy-absorbing based on the theory that a lot of kinetic energy could be consumed in the process can be applied in vehicle passive protection. Currently, finite element simulation method is widely used in the research on the cutting energy-absorbing while experimental methods were applied in this thesis to deeply analyze the cutting energy-absorbing process. The design of the cutting energy-absorbing impact test system composed of the impact energy loading device, the test bench and the data test system was completed. It can analyze and solve problems during experiments to ensure the successful development of tests. According to the test requirements, two kinds of measuring tools for cutting depth adjustment were designed and machined. In this paper, carbide YT5and aluminum are selected for as the material of cutting tools and work pieces, respectively. The cutting energy-absorbing experiments were carried out with the help of the cutting energy-absorbing impact test system. The factors such as cutting width, cutting depth, impact velocity and impact quality, which may affect the cutting energy-absorbing process, were studied in this thesis. Results showed that the force value kept stable during the cutting energy-absorbing process. It fluctuated sharply in the initial stage but decreased smoothly with the increased cutting displacement. What’s more, cutting width and cutting depth had a significant impact on the impact force and there was a linear relationship between them. The impact velocity and impact quality had little influence on impact force. Any increase of cutting width, cutting depth, impact velocity or impact quality, which had significant influence on cutting vibration, could lead to fluctuations of the cutting force in the initial stage.
