Research In South Hunan Traditional Residential Interior

Traditional residential houses are disappearing from our life due to kinds of historical and social factors, so the reserved are very precious. Being one of the important branches of Chinese residential houses, traditional residential houses in South Hunan were mostly built by bricks and woods in Ming and Qing dynasty, so its cultural value cannot be ignored. In order to continue its function and art value, more and more traditional residential houses are saved by renewing or reusing. In this thesis, traditional residential in Hengyang city and the surrounding areas were researched in several respects:Firstly, the architectural characteristic of traditional residential houses in South Hunan. The form of residential housess in South Hunan is complicating, because they revealed the central culture, hakka culture, regional culture and western culture brought by the war simultaneously. But the core culture can still be found like the harmonious thought, the sacred religious, the system of feudalism, and the ecological ethic about that man is an integral part of nature. That’s why the whole style of residential housess in South Hunan is all the same. Simple color, tall wall, various courtyard, deep alley and so on.Secondly and importantly, the regeneration research of interior space. By analyzing the space type and function of residential houses in South Hunan, the space characteristics and its developing status were found, And then contrastive analysis of characteristics of traditional residential and modern interior space was used to find the common point based on the differences and relations of both styles. At last, combined with the feasibility of regeneration design, and analysis of realistic basis, the specific regeneration principles for traditional residential houses in South Hunan were confirmed.Lastly, the research of current status and interior space structures of traditional residential houses in Baogai town. Aim to solidify the former theory, traditional residential houses in Baogai Town, Hengnan county were chosen as subject investigated and case analysis method was employed to analyze the importance and measurements of traditional residential house regeneration design based on the developing facts of Baogai Town. As a result, adaptive reform on interior form, development of diversity useful function and adjust the physical environment in interior all viewpoint was proposed.
