In order to meet the rapid development of high dam construction, it is increasinglyimportant to solve the problems of energy dissipation and anti-scouring which is inseparablefrom the developing and perfecting of outlet works. Curved slit-type flip bucket is a typicaltrajectory energy dissipator invented by our country, it is Only in domestic that has the relatedresearch and application examples. Because of its unique shape structure, it has a good effect onflood discharge and energy dissipation. At present, curved slit-type flip bucket has been usedin several domestic large and medium-sized water conservancy projects, but the study oncurved slit-type flip bucket is still much less, and the study on curved slit-type flip bucket ismainly relied on the hydraulic model test.For further study of curved slit-type flip bucket’s hydraulic characteristics, based on theapplication examples of curved slit-type flip bucket and correlational research, the article hascarried on the comprehensive analysis on shape structure, mechanical characteristics, waterflow, energy dissipation mechanism, and energy dissipation effect of curved slit-type flipbucket. By analysis of curved slit-type flip bucket, as well as contrast of Maerdanghydropower station with application examples of curved slit-type flip bucket, it verified that itwas feasible to apply curved slit-type flip bucket to Maerdang hydropower station. Therecommended curved slit-type flip bucket was put forward through the shape optimizationthat could meet the engineering requirements. What’s more, the article carried out contrastiveanalysis of curved slit-type flip bucket and general flip bucket on shape structure, flow state,situation of nappes fall into the river in dead storage level, scouring in downstream riverchannel and the impact of downstream riverbed deposition on power station tail water, itverified that curved slit-type flip bucket was characterized by sidewall height was lower,energy dissipation was ampler, stability and security was better, nappes were fully diffusing inlongitudinal and transverse, jet trajectory length of kerve nappe was steady in favour ofaccous crossing bank, the lower reach scouring pit was shallower. At last, the articleexpounded the test results of recommended curved slit-type flip bucket about the water levelthat nappes were just intact, scouring in downstream river channel, impact of downstreamriverbed deposition on power station tail water, the pulse pressure of downstream bank, whichconfirmed that recommended curved slit-type flip bucket could meet engineering requirements on energy dissipation and erosion control of Maerdang hydropower stationwhich is more than200m, it has a certain reference significance for the popularization andapplication of curved slit-type flip bucket in the high dam.
