Nowadays,the frequency of large space buildings appears increasingly inindustry andpeople’s lives,witha high proportion in the industrial buildings and public buildings.Owingto the increasingly more requirements of indoor air environment in the large spacebuilding,the designof its conditioning system has become one of the key for people tostudy.The air conditioning energy consumption is very high due to its hugespace.Non-full-room air conditioning is mostly adopted in modern large spacebuildings,such asstratificated air conditioning in the waiting room of the railway station,theseat ventilation in cinema hall or stadium,in order to save energy and meet people’s comfortrequirements.Currently,Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) is used to predict indoor airdistribution,which is an effective method.This is an indoor air distribution research of the atrium in Tianjin Baiyun Hotel.Thecooling load of the atrium has been calculated according to the structure dimension andrequired air conditioning design parameters.The volume velocity and temperature of airsupply will be acquired and the size and distribution location of air supply and return willbe determined.Then a physical model will be established.Having established model andacquired the result of air distribution by numerical simulation,three kinds of air distributionof stratificated air conditioning,displacement ventilation and underfloor air distributionhave been compared.The simulation results show that the situation of temperature stratification is not samedue to different kinds of air distribution though temperature stratification can occur inatrium with all three kinds of air distribution such as stratificated airconditioning,displacement ventilation,underfloor air distribution.Temperature distributionunder stratification plane of stratificated air conditioning is more uniform than other’s,whiledisplacement ventilation and underfloor air distribution both supplying air in lower of theworking area,will be affected by people in work area leading to uniform stratification.Thelargest volume of air supply stratificated air conditioning,that followed by displacementventilation and underfloor air distribution,so there are higher initial investment and energyconsumption for stratificated air conditioning.The outlet arrangement of underfloor airdistributionis more complex.Due to the lower air velocity of displacement ventilation,moreair supply outlets must be arranged.It will bring a lot of arrangement problems,whilestratificated air conditioning will not be affectedby the lower space structure.As present, thestratificated air conditioning is commonly adopted in most large space.
