As the idea of green energy resources is developing, the burden of the output system in modern hydropower plant is increasing. With the growing scale of power grid, its construction and capacity is getting more and more complicated. Traditional manual operation by operators for the sendout of all units cannot accommodate to the status of the developing grid. In that case, the Automatic gain control (AGC) system is in urgent need of the output-control in whole course.This paper analyzes that when the machine runs the small power capacity, according to the principle of divided-equally, the adjustable range of one machine will run into a "dead zone", which can be solved with the idea of small load distribution. Through analyzing and drawing a picture of the vibration area of one machine and all the units in the plant according to the water head, loading, and vibrating condition, we can reduce the vibrating of the units when making a rational distribution of active power in every unit with monitored control system AGC. As we optimize the AGC system as setting up safety interlocking to lockout some switching of the control methods, we can reach the safe operation.Eventually, after analyzing the operating index of Longtan Hydro power plant, we find that the vibrating is greatly reduced and the working condition is improved with optimized AGC system. Under the same total load, we achieve the object of green energy resource by bringing huge economic and social benefit to the company when saving water through optimized AGC system.
