In order to achieve the objection of enhancing heat transfer, Nanofluids prepared byadding nanoparticles in heat transfer medium has call attention for researchers.The purposes of the study are applying nano-particles in the area of heat transfer,enlarging the application scope of nanotechnology, exploring the fundamental problems in thefield of nanotechnology applications in thermal engineering, and promoting the research anddevelopment of high performance heat transfer equipment. In this article, SiO2nano-particleswill be added to the base fluid to get equally and stably suspended SiO2-H2O nano-fluids, thethermophysical properties of SiO2-H2O nano-fluids will be analyzed. Then the SiO2-H2Onano-fluids will be sealed in miniature heat pipes, the startup performance and the heattransfer performance will be researched. This work mainly includes the following aspects ofcontent.The preparation of nano-particles is the basis for the preparation of high performance ofnano-fluids, and the key to its application in miniature heat pipe. In this study, SiO2nano-particles will be made through sol-gel method. The effect of concentration of ethylorthosilicate (TEOS), types of dispersants, hydrolysis time and pH value on the size SiO2nano-particle will be analyzed. The best preparation plan will be determined.Under the condition of not adding dispersant and not regulating pH value, the two-stepmethod will be used to make the SiO2-H2O nano-fluids and the influence of ultrasonicvibration time will be analyzed. Thermal conductivity, viscosity and surface tension will beresearched of the SiO2-H2O nano-fluids with the factors such as temperature, volumetricfraction of SiO2nano-particles.SiO2-H2O nano-fluids will be sealed in miniature heat pipe, and the performance testingsystem of miniature heat pipe will be established. The start-up properties of miniature heatpipe will be calculated through lumped parameter model. the start-up properties and heattransfer properties of SiO2-H2O nano-fluids miniature heat pipe will be researched and becompared with ordinary miniature heat pipe.Miniature heat pipe with SiO2-H2O nanofluids will be assembled to be a fin radiator. Theperformance testing system of the fin radiator will be established to study the performance ofthe fin radiator, which will be compared with fin radiator of DI water miniature heat pipe.
