Satellite borne hyperspectral imaging spectrometers have been widely used inresources monitoring, disaster early warning, military defense and many otherfields, because of their high resolution in spectrum, strength in wavelengthcontinuity, large in observation range and other features. The defects, such aslong-development-cycle and high-fabricate-cost, limit the spectrometers’ developmentand application. Taking the problems above into account, this paper conducts studies asfollow:First, the constitution of the satellite borne imaging spectrometers’ imaging chainhas been analyzed from two sides, the transmission of optical energy and the transfer ofoptical information. The imaging chain has been divided into several modules, such asatmospheric radiation transmission, optical system, detector system, electronic circuitsystem and so on. The calculation formulas of energy for each module have beendeduced.Second, two typical structures of satellite borne imaging spectrometers have beenintroduced. Effects on the quality of the final image, imported by different modules ofthe two typical imaging spectrometers, have been analyzed utilizing the Optical transferfunction (OTF) theory. Different mathematic models have been established for differenteffects, and the simulation results of different parts have been obtained. Finally, the simulation of the typical Satellite borne imaging spectrometers’imaging chain has been accomplished by MATLAB. Refer to the same or the similartype imaging spectrometers’ parameters, imaging chain simulation has been processed. The dispersion type and the interference type satellite borne imaging spectrometers’imaging chain simulation have been realized, and the simulation results have beenanalyzed and compared.
