With the continuous development of human society, there is growing emphasison the comfortable environment, human thermal comfort also be more and moreattention as an important component of comfort. Humans are very sensitive totemperature and humidity. In hot and humid regions, especially under non-airconditioned environment, people would feel more comfortable sitting and working inoffice rather than doing outdoor sports. However, wearing the right clothes could helpimprove individuals’ thermal comfort, that is the satisfaction with the thermalenvironment, and thus increase their acceptation of doing sports. Reflect people havedifferent maximum metabolic rates in different air status in order to maintainingthermal comfort state. Scholars have introduced various kinds of thermal comfortindexes to evaluate the thermal environments, but rare of these indicators havedirectly showed us a relationship between the changes of thermal sensation andhuman metabolic rates.Based on existing thermal comfort theories and models, this thesis studied theheat transfer between human bodies and the surrounding environments, holdingconstant thermal comfort levels under different motion statuses for diff erent weatherconditions. We first applied a quantitative methodology to calculate the maximummetabolisms for different air parameters, holding constant thermal comfort levels. After that, through analyzing the coefficient of each air parameter, we came up with aseries of design/optimal control parameters for various air-conditioning systemdesignations. And then given uncomfortable temperature and humidity area whenpeople under several specific human metabolism in different wind speed, used todetermine whether people be discomfort caused by heavy sweating when the body isin these specific metabolic rate and these combination of temperature andhumidity. As well as an explanation of the error’s sources and effect sizes of thecalculation method used in this paper. Finally, we conducted a questionnaire surveyon people’s thermal sensation under different motion status, comparing the actualmetabolic rate, actual thermal sensation, and the theoretical maximum comfortmetabolic rate, to verify our research from empirical perspectives.
