In recent years, with the continuous development of China’s self-developedBeidou satellite navigation system,developed a new generation of national Beidousatellite vehicle navigation terminal system is of great significance and broadprospect, to a large extent can not only get rid of the dependence on foreign satellitenavigation system, for a key initiative in the field of satellite navigation technology,but also inevitable trend of the development of Intelligent Transportation System,can greatly improve the efficiency of traffic management and travel security.In order to realize the fusion of secure real-time location of vehicles and reliablecommunication with the outside world, a vehicle location and communication systemwas designed based on BeiDou Navigation Satellite System. The hardware platform ofthe terminal system selects ARM embedded microprocessor AM3359as the core andembedded Linux operating system as the coreof the software platform,using opensource graphics interface library Qt to develop terminal application.This paper studiesand discusses the terminal system in the transplantation of the system software andapplication software design and development two aspects.System software starts bydescribing the transplant process of embedded Linux operating system to the targethardware platform, including the bootstrap compilation, the customization of thekernel and creation of the file system.The add of the touch screen driver and3Gmodule driver to the kernel are introduced in the part of kernel transplantion.Thenexpounds the transplant process of QT/Embedded library to the ARM board, in orderto provide the libraries for QT applications, at the same time introduces theconfiguration and installation of the NFS service which is commonly used inEmbedded development.The transplantation of the embedded SQLite database isdiscussed in the end, in order to save some important configuration information forterminal system.Application software focuses on the positioning module andcommunication module design, positioning module includes using beidou protocol tosend and receive location information, and excluding outliers.Communication modulemainly includs the completion of car phone function through AT commands and tosend Chinese short message by PDU mode.At the same time introduces the serialcommunication programming through Qt and application software interface design.In this paper based on beidou satellite navigation system in our country, the embedded vehicle positioning and communication system is designed.Use the Beidousatellite navigation system to achieve vehicle location function, using GSMtechnology to realize car phone and SMS fuctions.The test of the system showed thatthe system realized the functions of vehicle positioning, car phone, short message andso on. The anticipated design requirements were achieved.This paper has made apreliminary exploration for use of Beidou satellite navigation system to realize thevehicle positioning and communication.
