Due to the rapid increase in the number of motor vehicles,urban road congestion is increasingly becoming a serious problem. Urban traffic light control system is an important part of intelligent transportation systems which plays a crucial role in improving the efficiency of its road use and energy-saving.The urban traffic light control system now exists many shortages such as wiring trouble,susceptible to environmental factors,bad real-time,inconvenient maintenance, high-cost in operation,thus this article proposes a new system which combines the fuzzy control with wireless sensor network.This paper presents the design of acquisition node which combines HMC5883L magnetoresistive sensor with the microcontroller CC2530, introducing the hardware design of data transmission module based on ZigBee wireless protocol and the master chip used STM32as the coordinator. The article designs the four-phase traffic lights fuzzy controller for single intersection. The controller determines the extension time of current phase green light based on the current and next phase traffic flow parameters, and gives Fuzzy-build process and design of control rules.The control system has the following advantages:1.Associated with a magnetoresistive sensor detecting traffic parameters, the method would not be influenced by environmental factors and it has good accuracy and stability;2.Using ZigBee wireless protocol to transmit data not only eliminates the trouble of wiring and has good real-time performance also prones to post-expansion and maintenance;3.Green light time-delay controller is designed with fuzzy algorithm so that traffic lights can be changed in real time based on the passage of the current intersection traffic flow.Finally verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of the control system in MATLAB simulation platform. Results show that the control system can realize the real-time collection and wireless transmission of traffic parameters, and traffic signal fuzzy control can largely shorten the vehicle waiting time and improve the traffic efficiency.
