To compensate for the shortage of timber resources, our country have done a lot toresearch on the development and utilizationtechnology of bamboo resources.Engineering bamboo productbased onmodern recombinant techniques has greatsimilarity with timber. The producteven exceeds most ordinary wood in strength andelastic modulus. It is a kind of new construction materialwith the properties oflight-weight, high-strength, toughness and environment-friendly. Its density is close tothe timber,while the strength and elastic modulus exceeds the timber. Its intensity isabout2times the ordinary timber.The strength of bamboo is slightly less than steel,whilethe density is only about1/8of the steel,as a result,the strength-density-ratioofbamboo is much larger than steel.Our country has a very rich bamboo resource, but theutilization of engineeringbamboois still in its infancy,and series of problemsneed to be solved.The raw materialsincluded a wide range of items,and varied in properties,which directly impactson theproduct quality and uniformity. Bamboo is a highly anisotropic viscoelastic material. Iteasily creeps under long-term load,and its physical and mechanical nature is closelyrelated to the ambient temperature and humidity.The mechanism of improvingbamboo’slong-term durabilityis still in the exploratory stage.Currently the glue-laminatedbamboo production is still relatively high in artificial cost, and relatively low inindustrializationlevel.Glued bamboo’s engineering applications and experienceislacking.In particular, there is not specifically design code to instruct design,whichseverely limits the application of glued bamboo.Based on the abundant literature review, the properties of bamboo material havebeen well informed, so does the lightweight process and production of laminatedbamboo, and the current status of the development of bamboo structural design theoryin the field of Engineering; After the tension, compression, bending and shear resistancetest of gluing bamboo products, the bamboo constitutive relation curve and failuremodes obtained. The analysis of influential factors of gluing bamboo design indexesand determining methods has been illustrated; the concept and research method of creep,anisotropy, dries shrinkage and wet expansion characteristics of gluing bamboo has alsobeen given in this thesis, and with using the finite element software, the simulationanalysis of the impact of dry shrinkage and swelling of transverse crack on bamboo.According to the existing relevant design specifications, the bamboo footbridge component design method isproposed, with analyzing the bridge structure sizeparameters of bamboo model using finite element software, and summarizing thebamboo bridge components reference dimensions; Finally, the reference of bamboobridge design method is concluded basing on the engineering design examples ofbamboo bridge.
