High-speed railway is the direction of the development in every country all over the world; also, it is the trend of this epoch. Electric traction has become the unique traction method of High-speed railway and Passenger-special line because of its unexampled advantages. Also, unprecedented chances and challenges of the speediness development in Electrification railway have come along. However, engineers in our country find that relationship between pantograph and catenary has become the bottleneck to the speed increase of the train. It decides the current transmission performance owing to locomotives run at Electrification railway obtain electric energy via the pantograph sliding on the contact line, and as it well known, obtain current steady is the precondition and guarantee for the object of railway transmission such as security. Improve the current transmission performance of the electric locomotives has been the key for the development of High-speed railway in our country. Dynamic arcing of the pantograph-catenary system reflect the current transmission performance of the electric locomotives directly, and the contact features of the pantograph-catenary system decide the current transmission performance of the electric locomotives, so research of the relationship between dynamic arcing and contact features takes on important significance to finding methods to restrain arcing, improving relationship of pantograph and catenary, ameliorating the current transmission performance and decreasing occurrence of accidents in pantograph-catenary system.Three parts of this thesis has been divided to discuss this topic. In the first part, starting with the principle of the arcing, arcing in pantograph-catenary system has been introduced. The conception, characteristics and infection of the dynamic arcing between the pantograph and the catenary has been discussed after different working conditions of pantograph-catenary system. Then analyses contact features of the pantograph-catenary system according to geometry properties, electrical contact characteristic, friction and abrasion in system and dynamic interaction immediately. The relationship between the dynamic arcing and contact pressure has been analyzed in theory according to the Theory of Electrical Contact and Potential-temperature Theory. The conception of current collection and the standard about it in different countries has been introduced soon afterwards. At the end of these two parts, the detection method of arcing and parameters which reflect the contact features between pantograph and catenary such as contact pressure and height change of the contact line in one span has been introduced. In course of time, the periodicity dynamic detection of the catenary based on syntheses testing train and regression analysis method as well as descriptive statistics method are used to research the relationship between dynamic arcing and contact features in pantograph-catenary system which include relation between arcing and contact pressure, arcing and height change as well as height change and contact pressure.
