In electrified railways, current collection results from sliding contact between the moving pantograph and the overhead contact wire. A crucial problem is thus to guarantee a safe and reliable contact under any working condition. Poor contact results in various drawbacks, including arcing, excessive wear of pantograph strips and contact lines, which not only influences the matching relation of pantograph-catenary system, but also deteriorates the current collection quality of electric locomotive. Relevant research institutions devoted much attention to the studies of arc between the pantograph and catenary system at home and abroad, but limited by the stage of the test means and conditions, it still lagged behind. So accurate measurement of the arc phenomena to achieve detailed evaluation parameters has great significance for explaining all kinds of abnormal phenomenon, mastering the regular pattern of collecting current and understanding the service condition of pantograph-catenary system.Analysis the spectral characteristics of arc, we recognized the characteristic of detection which was the ultraviolct light of250±10nm. In consideration of the radiation, transformation and transition of the ultraviolet light, a mathematical model which was used to characterize the arc of pantograph-catenary system was derived. Meanwhile, using standard deuterium lamp information accomplished standardization of the model and achieved the quantitative analysis for the arc phenomenon. Moreover, we offered the uv arc energy indexes to measure the abnormal wear phenomenon, which could provide the theory basis for accurate evaluation of pantograph-catenary’s dynamic operation process.A field experiment was carried out for analyzing the performance of pantograph-catenary system by using the developed detection equipment in high-speed railway. During this process, the detection performance had been proved. While the law and characteristic of pantograph-catenary arc had been studied.Multivariate testing information of pantograph-catenary evaluation system had been developed, with lots of valid dataes about the status of catenary-pantograph arc, locomotive traction current, contact pressure, speed and kilometer, etc. A field experiment was also carried out for analyzing the law and service condition of pantograph-catenary interaction in Guangzhou Metro Line-2and line-3, which is helpful to evaluate and maintain the relation of pantograph-catenary.Finally, the thesis proved that the existing evaluation indexes couldn’t completely appraise the catenary-pantograph’s ability of collecting current. So it is significant to build a current distortion rate index for evaluating the current collection quality of pantograph-catenary and ensuring the safety of high-speed railway, which is based on Wavelet transform multi-resolution analysis.
