| Mixed traffic is one of the basic situations of China’s road traffic. Mutual interference of various motor and non-motor vehicles in the bus stop area is particularly serious, which in most cases may reduce the road section capacity and even cause the traffic congestion. So it’s very necessary to analyze mixed traffic behaviors in the bus stop area in detail, which helps develop the green travel system composed of public transport mainly and other coordinated modes of transportation such as walking and bicycle transport. While ensuring the efficiency of bus transit and offering comfortable space for non-motor vehicles, it may also guarantee the order of motor vehicles, and offer safe walk space for passengers. At present both domestic and foreign relative literatures on this subject mainly focus on the mutual effect between buses and motor vehicles, but only a few studies focus on those influences between buses and non-motor vehicles, and studies on interferences between non-motor vehicles and passengers are even fewer.Therefore, this paper first summarizes the basic forms of bus stops and the characteristics of the major roles in road traffic. Next, this paper analyzes the mutual interference of various traffic flow behaviors in the bus stop area. Then, a VISSIM simulation model on process of buses’reaching or leaving the stop and the process of passengers’boarding or alighting is built. Last, combining a research case, this paper simulates the mixed traffic flow in the bus stop area in different scenarios.Specifically, the main contents of this paper include the following:(1) This paper gives a detailed analysis of three basic kinds of bus stop forms, that is, inline bus stop, harbor-shaped bus stop and bus stop with backward bicycle lane. And the features of traffic flow in these bus stop areas are also analyzed in detail. What’s more, this paper analyzes the interference of the mixed traffic flow in the bus stop area systematically, mainly including the interference between the stopping bus and the mixed traffic flow, and the interference between the arriving/leaving passengers and the non-motor traffic flow.(2) Based on actual survey data and the recommended values of some relevant norms, this paper has built the VISSIM simulation model of traffic flow in the bus stop area by calibrating the basic physical parameters, traffic flow parameters and driving behavior parameters. This simulation model includes the stop process of buses based on the VISSIM senior passenger model, and the process of passengers’alighting and leaving on the basis of VISSIM-VAP. What’s more, this paper also takes the mixed traffic’s corrected delay time and the LOS of the non-motor lane as the evaluation indices of this simulation model.(3) This paper chooses the Yaojiayuanxi bus stop between fourth ring and fifth ring road in Beijing as a research case, simulating the mixed traffic flow of the bus stop area in different scenarios. From the interests of the public transport users and the car users respectively, this paper analyzes the delay time of the mixed traffic flow in different bus stop forms by processing and calculating the simulation data. And based on the interests of non-motor users, this paper also analyzes the LOS of the non-motor vehicle lane under circumstances of different bus stop forms, bus types and bus parking modes in the bus stop area. |
