ABSTRACT:Owing to the advantages of reasonable structure and convenient construction, continuous rigid frame bridges have been built widely in highways. However, the deterioration of asphalt deck pavement reduces its comfort and durability greatly. In this paper, the asphalt deck pavement of concrete continuous rigid frame bridges is studied in stress analysis and construction technology.First, based on Jiaozichuan curved concrete continuous rigid frame bridge, a finite element model is established for the entire bridge. Through calculation, the most adverse beam segment is determined and then local model is built. After this, based on the local model, the stress status of asphalt deck pavement is calculated under temperature action, concrete shrinkage and creep action and vehicle load. Besides, the influence of overload of vehicles, horizontal braking force, vehicle speed, asphalt pavement’s thickness and elastic modulus is analyzed. Results show that temperature action and vehicle load is the most unfavorable load combination to asphalt deck pavementAfter above analysis, detailed suggestions about milling process of bridge decks, the binding layer and temperature controlling of asphalt mixture are proposed to ensure construction quality of asphalt deck pavement of concrete continuous rigid frame bridges.
