The distributed generation, especially the renewable energy sources including photovoltaic generation and wind power generation,has the characteristics of intermittence, variability and uncertainty. It brings more challenges to power systems operation when the percentage of the distributed generation in the power system becomes higher. With the capability of both charging and discharging, the energy storage system (ESS) can complement the uncertainty of renewable generation. Based on the analysis of hybrid wind/photovoltaic power generation system with energy storage, in this thesis, capacity configuration and operation strategy of energy storage devices are analyzed as follow:(1) Analysis of hybrid wind/photovoltaic power generation system with energy storage. This paper first elaborated the principle of wind generation and photovoltaic power principles; then energy storage technologies, particularly used in power system energy storage technologies are analyzed in detail, and introduces the principle of charging and discharging of energy storage system; Finally, the focus of analysis this system is connected to the grid characteristics and control requirements analysis.(2) Energy storage capacity configuration. Firstly, the principle of this system, for the smooth introduction of wind power and photovoltaic power fluctuations traditional control strategy, the reference method as the energy storage system capacity configuration simulation calculations; then analyzed wind farms, photovoltaic power plant output power flatness the criterion standard and the output power fluctuation characteristics in the study of national standards for air, under the premise of light fluctuations requirements proposed smoothness criterion applies to the capacity of the energy storage system configuration standards and outlines the characteristics reflect the characteristics of the output power fluctuations parameters; Finally, the energy storage system capacity configuration, including the establishment of wave characteristics, energy storage system parameters-power smoothness neural network model of short-term energy storage system parameters-power and smoothness of the long-term use of mathematical models most genetic algorithm excellent energy storage system capacity and maximum output power three parts.
