UAV has obtained the domestic and foreign experts and enterprise’s attention and research in the inspection of power.Unmanned aerial vehicle patroling become the development direction of electric power line inspection with the advantages of safety, high efficiency, and its properties can satisfy the requirements to become inspector of UHV AC transmission line national main electric network, and become the focus of research. However, there was little studies about patroling mode yet, and carry out the test inspection for non UHV, non long distance. Therefore, inspection for UHV AC transmission line by UAVs in a normal mode was studied. Combined with defect feature and the advantages of UAVs and inspection equipment, got the application mode of two kinds of unmanned aircraft inspection of UHV AC transmission line.First of all, in order to get the defect feature of UHV AC transmission line, UHV AC transmission line components and function,also the influence of UHV AC under normal operation of the line electric and mechanical characteristics and circuit of external environment.was studied. Combined with the selection and design characteristics of UHV AC transmission line, analyzes the circuit body defects, ancillary facilities defect and line exterior hidden danger, by analyzing the generation mechanism of the defects, the three characteristics of the defect, which are light defect properties, thermal defect characteristics and associated with characteristic of ultraviolet radiation, to adopt new inspection technology provide a basis.Secondly, according to the three characteristics of main defects of UHV AC transmission line, proposed three efficient detection technology, function parameters and the typical of the corresponding inspection equipments was collected. Then, to classify UAVs patrol line platform,the fixed wing UAVs, single rotary wing unmanned aerial vehicles and multi rotor unmanned aerial vehicle was introduced And to carry the capacity payload UAV as main constraints, the unmanned aircraft and three patrol equipment matching, we match method, provides the basis for various combinations of patrol modes play the advantages of building.Finally, analysis of the patrol of UHV AC transmission line characteristics, combined with unmanned aircraft and inspection equipment, to build a single unmanned aerial vehicle inspection and collaborative patrol mode. Selected the inspection examples of only one commercial operated UHV AC transmission line in China,also in world, which is the part of the Changnan I line in Shanxi Province by fixed wing UAVs and single rotor unmanned aircraft cooperative patrol mode.The test of the model can fit the large scale model high voltage AC transmission line inspection requirements.
