Vortex flow slurry pump is widely used in the dredging project of rivers and ponds, it is also the critical component to the rotary digging type desilting ship.Vortex flow slurry pump adopts the centrifugal impeller, the difference is that the impeller is not installed in the volute, but behind the back to the pressurized water chamber, namely the axial space width between impeller and front pump casing wall is bigger, thus makes it has very good throughing performance. The impeller design of vortex pump is same to conventional centrifugal pump basically, but its working principle is not completely same to the traditional vane pump,such as centrifugal pump, mixed flow pump, axial flow pump and screw pump.This paper unites study of Jiangsu water conservancy project of science and technology, using the method of computational fluid dynamics, developing XLB260type vortex pump internal flow analysis, exploring the flow law of the no leaf cavity of vortex pump and impeller, studying effects of design parameters on the performance of the pump, providing a reference for the performance prediction and optimization design of cyclone type mud pump. The main work and achievements are as follow.(1)The analysis and conclusion of the vortex pump theory study, numerical simulation and experimental research, The author proposed the direction and content of this paper.(2)Using PRO/E the3D modeling software to set the XLB260hydrocyclone pump’s three-dimensional solid model; using ANSYS ICEM software for the completion of the model’s meshing, and making a grid-independent analysis for the solid model meshing,making a analysis of the relationship between the spin numerical simulation of flow pump calculations and the number of grids. Provided by using the flow field calculation software CFX, using the average Reynolds equation, and selecting the turbulence model in the standard k-e model, which are frequently used in Turbulence model, analyzed the internal and external feature based on the calculation results, obtained the XLB260vortex pump’s performance curves of the flow, head, power and efficiency.(3)By using the orthogonal experimental method, Analysising of the effect of the flow channel inlet diameter dl,the number of leaves Z and the gap between the impeller diameter and shell of XLB260type cyclone type mud pump, and to determine the sequence of three parameters on the performance of the pump according to the result and the performance curve, Then using intuitive analysis method and comprehensive analysis method to find the optimal parameter combination of vortex pump.(4)Developing the XLB260type cyclone type mud pump3D unsteady calculation,analysing the unsteady internal characteristics of steady flow field,and comparing quantitatively and qualit atively steady and unsteady calculation results of the different conditions.(5) In this paper, the solid-liquid two-phase flow calculation are carried out to analyze the distribution of the flow rate and pressure inside the pump with the particle diameter and density change. The head and efficiency of the pump also with the change of particle diameter and concentration.
