In recent years, the emissions from the automobiles have caused severe pollutionproblems in cities, and the energy crisis has become increasingly aggravated. It’s moreand more important to develop the so-called green-automobiles. The electric motor iswildly used by people for its flexibility, portability, energy saving,environmentalprotection and affordable price. Vehicles with such motors have become ideal forshort trips.Brushless DC Motor(BLDCM)is the main Motor of the electric bicycle,whichhas advantage of great power density, torque output, simple control and stable running,so it is widely applied in the fields of aerospace and industry. The control technologyof BLDCM is now relatively mature; however, Brushless DC motors (BLDCM) havethe problem of high torque ripple because of motor design itself and its unique controlstrategy, which limits the fields of BLDCM’s applications. In order to solve theexisting problem, this paper examines a new control strategy to suppress permanentmagnet brushless dc motor commutation torque ripple.As the critical component of the electric vehicles, the control system determinesthe performance of the electric vehicles.This paper gives a brief introduction to the structure, working principle andmathematical model of brushless DC motor, which provides the theoretical basis formotor control.The reason of commutation torque ripple is stated in detail in this paper. Fromthe angle of switching loss, modulation polar and commutation torque ripple, thispaper discusses different pulse width modulation. Based on the H_PWM_L_ONmodulation method, it presents a new simple PWM strategy to eliminate thecommutation torque ripple of BLDCM.Control core circuit uses the R8C2K micro controller as the main chip which isproduced by the Renesas Corporation. The paper discusses each unit circuit ofcomponent and realization mechanism, inverter circuit,power converting, drivercircuit, based on IR2103,detection circuit, speed given circuit, driver circuit,under-voltage protection circuit, overcurrent protection circuit and so onCombined with the characteristics of the hardware circuit, Use HEW integrateddevelopment environment as software development tools, Some detailed flowchart ofthe modules were given,And gives part of the core program source code builds a test bed to test the controller with the normal controller and thecontroller base on this paper. The results show that the BLDCM controller can operatenormally. The commutation torque ripple is reduced obviously with the new methodthis paper proposes, so the new method is valid.
