As people spend more and more time inside the automobile, in-vehicle airpollution has gradually become a concealed killer which is harm to people’s physicaland mental health. Compared with vehicle exhaust pollution emissions, people payless attention to the air pollution inside the automobile. At present, research on airpollution inside the automobile mainly focuses on air pollution testing, air qualityassessment and air purification at home and abroad. Research object of this paper isthe pollution sources inside the car, and the research focuses on the pollutantconcentration inside the car by the effect of different pollution sources.Regarding the formaldehyde as the object of, this paper analysis the distributioncharacteristics of formaldehyde inside the car by using the numerical calculationsoftware FLUENT. First, by changing the air supply and return pattern, air velocityand air supply angle, velocity and formaldehyde distribution in the car weresimulated.Considering the draught sensation’ requirements for occupant comfort andminimize the concentration of formaldehyde inside the car together, consequently findthe appropriate air distribution: the airflow is supplied by the front and middle inletsand returned by the front outlets, the velocity of the air supply is3m/s, and theblowing angle is45. Then on the basis of the appropriate air distribution, using theFLUENT software to simulate formaldehyde concentration distribution inside the carwhen the pollution sources are respectively in the ceiling, instrument panel, frontseats and back seats, analysis the pollutant’ concentration around the vehicleoccupants’ breathing zone by the four pollution sources. It is found that, when the carbody is in the idle state, the maximum weight value of the formaldehydeconcentration in the front passenger’ breathing zone is caused by the front seatspollution source, the maximum weight value of the formaldehyde concentration in therear passenger’ breathing zone is caused by the back seats pollution source. When thecar is in the vibration state, the ceiling pollution source is the maximum pollution forboth the front and rear passenger. But no matter the vehicle is on idle or vibrationstate, the minimum weight value of the formaldehyde concentration in the occupants’breathing zone is the instrument panel pollution source, and the weight value of theformaldehyde concentration in the occupants’ breathing zone when the pollutionsource is from the front seats and back seats is larger than that of the ceiling. Therefore, more attention should be paid to the pollution source in the seat and ceilingin particular, the manufacturers must develop new technologies to reduceformaldehyde contaminants inside the seats and ceiling.
