Over/under voltage protector can protect the electric equipment to work well in thepower grid within a certain range. The electrical equipment will not be affected evenpermanent damage when the voltage is fluctuated. So the protector is widely used in manyfields of industry. According to the specific demands of a user, this paper designs anover/under voltage protector function test system based on virtual instruments technology.The system uses high accuracy analog acquisition card to collect the test signal onreal-time and get the accurate protector’s tripping time by on-line analysis and calculate. Sothe tested protector can be confirmed whether it is in conformity with the relevantprovisions. The system is based on LabWindows/CVI software platform. This paperdescribes the overall structure of the system, gives detailed design scheme of the systemfrom two aspects of hardware and software. The completed works and achieved results inthis paper summarize as follows:(1)Determining the system demand and making the system’s overall design plan bythe demand.(2)Designing the system hardware structure diagram and the circuit diagram.Selecting the hardware of data acquisition card, I/O card and the testing of digital voltagesource.(3)Dividing the system software structure into seven modules: trip time acquisitionfunction module, system initialization module, underlying device control module,automatic test module, user management module, manual maintenance module anddatabase module. The system realizes the seven modules above.(4)On the basis of the above work, setting up the system test platform andverifying the correctness and validity about the system by the user’s actual test data. The actual operation result of the system shows that the system meets therequirements of customers and has been put into actual production application. Thesuccessful development of the system improves the production efficiency for the user andprovides a basis to ensure product quality.
