The study of slope stability occupies a very important position in the field of geotechnical engineering. Once slope instability, it seriously threat to people’s life and property security. The underground mined-out area is one of the many external factors that influence the stability of the slope. The impaction on slope stability is more complicated. Geological structure, rock mass structure, goaf position, mining method, slope or site in different parts, can produce very different consequences.Goaf impact on slope stability mainly include:one is to break the internal stress distribution characteristics of slope rock mass, accelerate the development of joints and fractures, and reduce the overall strength of rock mass; the second is in the process of slope excavation goaf will cause overlying rock collapse and deformation. The thesis combined with the engineering example of An Jialing Open-pit Mine, analysis goaf impact on slope stability and failure mode by the means of the theoretical analysis, field investigation, the limit equilibrium analysis and numerical simulation methods. Calculated the stability coefficient of the slope without under goaf by SLIDE software based on the limit equilibrium theory and studied the stress and strain characteristics and the failure mode of slope internal rock mass under no underground mined-out area and underground mined-out area by the large general finite element software ANSYS that based on finite element strength reduction theory. The thesis reveals open-pit slope deformation and failure characteristics of the underground mined-out area through the comparative analysis. Research results provide a scientific basis for safety production of An Jialing Open-pit Mine, also provides the reference for the open-pit mine in the similar situation.
